Windows 10 is supplied with two fairly reasonable but basic music players. They are Windows Media Player (WPP) and Grove Music app.
Windows Media Player (WMP) is a media player and media library application developed by Microsoft that is used for playing audio, video and viewing images on personal computers running the Microsoft Windows operating system, as well as on Pocket PC and Windows Mobile-based devices. Groove Music is a music player software application also from Microsoft that allows music to be played back from OneDrive and from storage media.
While they both have a reasonable set of features, they cannot play many popular lossy and lossless file formats. They also don’t include some essential features. While WPP and Grove Music app cater for many individuals’ needs, if you’re interested in music, you really need some additional choice.
Reinventing the wheel is sometimes viewed as a significant barrier to the development of open source software. Critics point out that if developers simply collaborated more with each other, instead of creating yet another media player, this would help to simplify matters for users, and actually significantly advance the development of established open source projects. But this is false. It’s not about reinventing the wheel, it’s about creating the wheel – software that’s perfect for a user’s specific requirements and needs.
We only recommend open source software. Here’s our recommended solutions for music lovers. Click the links to learn more about the software.
